Supporting Save the Family with Essential IT Upgrades
The Ursula Keyes Trust is delighted to continue its support for Save the Family, with a grant towards an essential upgrade of the charity’s IT equipment.
Save the Family provides safe, supported accommodation for families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, many of whom are also facing complex challenges including poverty, domestic abuse, poor mental health and school disengagement.
From its residential site in Cheshire, the charity can accommodate up to 26 families at a time, providing much more than simply a safe place to live. Families receive personalised, wraparound support designed to help them overcome the difficulties they face, develop confidence and independence, and ultimately move towards a more secure future.
This includes trauma-informed mentoring, parenting and domestic abuse programmes, practical resettlement support and activities for both adults and children. Family Keyworkers and support teams work closely with each family to address both their immediate needs and the underlying causes of their situation.
Following a recent IT audit, Save the Family identified that a significant proportion of its existing computers are now outdated and need to be replaced. The charity is therefore undertaking a phased programme to introduce new laptops and docking stations across its frontline and support teams.
The grant from the Ursula Keyes Trust will contribute towards this important upgrade, building on previous support from the Trust which funded three laptops now being used every day by the charity’s trauma-informed Keyworker team.
While new computers may not immediately appear to be frontline charitable support, reliable and secure technology is essential to Save the Family’s work. Improved systems will allow staff to manage cases and referrals more efficiently, communicate effectively and securely record and share information.
For the families themselves, this means risks can be identified sooner, individual support plans can be managed more effectively and maintenance issues within their accommodation can be reported and resolved more quickly.
With thousands of households currently on the social housing waiting list across Cheshire West and Chester, the services provided by Save the Family remain as important as ever.
We are very pleased to continue supporting the charity and to help ensure its dedicated team has the equipment it needs to provide a responsive, safe and high-quality service to vulnerable families across Cheshire and beyond.
